What to do if your MIPS registry shuts down
CMS updated its 2026 Qualified Registry posting, identifying 11 registries under remedial action and 7 that have been terminated. What this means depends on which side of MIPS reporting you are on.
Clinicians, practices, groups, and ACOs that rely on these registries need to understand what happens to the work they have already completed and what they need to do to finish 2026 reporting.
Registries under remedial action or termination have a different concern: how to continue supporting the MIPS customers that already depend on their services.
This does not mean clinicians should start over or registries should lose their customers. We understand this is an unfortunate situation, especially since we are already nearing the end of the Q3 2026 MIPS reporting period. There are ways to work with the change, and Darena can help you understand your options.
Let’s start with what clinicians, practices, groups, and ACOs need to do in this situation.
What clinicians, practices, groups, and ACOs should focus on
If your Qualified Registry has been:
Terminated, you need another way to complete your 2026 MIPS reporting.
Under remedial action, first confirm what it can continue to support.
The MIPS work completed for 2026 might not need to be redone. We can review where your MIPS reporting stands and help you understand what you need to do next.
We start with a gap analysis:
Review what you have completed: We look at your measures, performance data, Promoting Interoperability (PI), Improvement Activities (IA), and other MIPS work already underway.
Check what can be reused: We determine what existing MIPS data and measure selections can move to MyMipsScore.
Identify what is missing: We look at the data and reporting requirements you still need to complete.
Get reporting back on track: We help transition your existing data and facilitate getting additional data needed from your EHR.
Complete 2026 reporting: MyMipsScore supports performance tracking, pre-submission review, and final submission to CMS.
If you don’t have enough time or information to complete your 2026 MIPS reporting, we can also help you understand whether an Extreme and Uncontrollable Circumstances (EUC) exception or Targeted Review applies to your situation.
Registries can continue to support their customers
Losing or having restrictions placed on your Qualified Registry status changes how you can support MIPS reporting, but it does not have to mean you lose your MIPS customers. Darena can provide the registry functions you need while you continue managing your customer relationships and the services you provide.
Here is how you can do that with Darena:
Keep your customers: Remain customer-facing for all your services.
Assess what you need: We review your current MIPS service, customer workflows, data flows, and reporting requirements, and bridge the gap.
Transition data to MyMipsScore: Transfer existing MIPS data and measure selections where possible, and facilitate any new data acquisition from your customers’ EHRs.
Complete reporting: We can support your customers with performance tracking, review, and final submission to CMS.
Explore partnership: We invite you to discuss potential referral and revenue-sharing models with us.
How can Darena help
Darena Health has been a CMS Qualified Registry since 2017. MyMipsScore is our unified MIPS platform for EHRs and provider organizations, supporting MIPS reporting from data collection and measure selection through performance monitoring, validation, and CMS submission.
MyMipsScore supports Traditional MIPS, all 2026 MVPs, all 2026 eCQMs, and MIPS CQMs for Quality, Promoting Interoperability (PI), and Improvement Activities (IA).
For the registry changes happening in 2026, Darena can work with both sides: clinicians, practices, groups, and ACOs that need to complete their MIPS reporting, and registries that want to continue supporting their MIPS customers.
